2. Initiating devices

  • Manual pull stations — operate each one; confirm correct address/zone at the panel.
  • Smoke detectors — functional test with approved aerosol or magnet; sensitivity verified on the required cycle.
  • Heat detectors — functional test for restorable types; visual confirmation for non-restorable.
  • Duct smoke detectors — verify airflow sampling and panel signal; confirm associated HVAC shutdown.

4. Power supplies & batteries

5. Off-premises monitoring
